QuickHatch Knife Co. is a small handmade knife business based in Idaho, USA.

For me, knife making is about creating working tools that combine traditional knife design, dependable materials, comfortable handles, and individual craftsmanship.

Rather than high-volume production, QuickHatch knives are individually worked and finished with an emphasis on how the knife will actually perform in the hand and in the field.

Handmade in Idaho

Every QuickHatch knife begins with a design and a piece of blade steel.

From profiling and grinding the blade to shaping and finishing the handle, the goal is to turn those materials into a dependable working knife.

Being an Idaho knife maker also puts the business in a place where hunting, camping, fishing, bushcraft, and outdoor recreation are part of everyday life.

Those activities have a natural influence on the types of knives I enjoy building.

Bushcraft, Hunting and Outdoor Knives

QuickHatch produces several styles of handmade fixed-blade knives.

Some designs lean heavily toward traditional bushcraft. Others are better suited to hunting, camping, general outdoor work, or everyday field use.

I also enjoy traditional knife patterns and designs influenced by classic outdoor knives, including Nessmuk- and Kephart-style knives.

Rather than trying to make one knife perform every possible job, I prefer giving individual models their own purpose and character.

Materials Chosen for Working Knives

O1 tool steel is used extensively in QuickHatch knives.

It has been used by knife makers and tool makers for generations and continues to offer characteristics that make it well suited to hard-working outdoor knives.

Many QuickHatch blades are heat treated to approximately 59–60 HRC.

Handle options vary by model and can include materials such as Micarta, along with different liner and hardware combinations.

Custom Knives Made in Idaho

In addition to finished knives offered when available, QuickHatch also offers custom knife ordering.

Depending on the model, customers may be able to choose handle materials, liner colors, hardware, and other available options.

A custom knife gives the customer an opportunity to make the finished knife more personal while retaining the design and construction of the original QuickHatch model.
